Runner-up finish for Mullens at Tulsa

A trip to the Sooner State was on the schedule for Tanner Mullens this weekend as he competed in Saturday's USRA Heartland Modified Tour (HMT) stop at Tulsa Speedway.

Twenty-three HMT teams made their way to the Oklahoma quarter-mile oval for the Fall Brawl 40, meaning three heat races would set the field for the $2,000-to-win feature. Mullens raced from fifth to second in his heat and redrew the sixth starting spot in the A-Main.

He climbed four spots in the 25-lap main event and finished as the runner-up, 1.421 seconds behind Tyler Wolff. Jason Pursley completed the podium, while Gunner Martin and Chad Wheeler finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

Mullens sits sixth in the HMT point standings despite missing four events.
