Mullens competes in HMT Diamond Classic
Tanner Mullens took on Lucas Oil Speedway with the USRA Heartland Modified Tour (HMT) on Friday evening as part of the invitation-only Diamond Classic at the track in Wheatland, Missouri.
A stout field of 26 Modifieds participated in the event at the 3/8-mile facility, where Mullens opened his evening with a sixth-place finish in his heat race. He started the 25-lap, $2,000-to-win feature from 18th and turned in a DNF with a 23rd-place result as he worked to get his new car dialed in.
Mullens’ team elected to forego the Saturday portion of the program as they were concerned about the track surface. Ultimately, the finale was rained out.
