Mullens makes USMTS starts in Amarillo
Tanner Mullens continued with the 2024 Summit USMTS season over the weekend in the two-day Amarillo Ambush at Route 66 Motor Speedway. The 3/8-mile oval in Amarillo, Texas, played host to a pair of $5,000-to-win shows, drawing 51 USMTS Modifieds on Friday and 50 on Saturday.
Mullens began the 11th annual event, in which Modifieds go topless, by finishing fifth in his Friday heat race aboard his Bergman Tax No. 02 car. He then took third in his B-Main, and went on to climb from his 18th starting spot in the 40-lap feature to finish 11th.
On Saturday, Mullens again was fifth in his heat to begin the evening. After taking fourth in his “B,” he started 19th in the night’s main event. He picked up one spot in the 50-lapper to come home 18th.
After the Amarillo Ambush, Mullens sits sixth in the USMTS National Championship point standings.
