Mullens on top at 81 Speedway

Tanner Mullens had originally planned to sit idle this weekend before next week’s Mod Wars 100 at Heart O’ Texas Speedway in Waco. However, on Saturday, he and his team made a last-minute decision to shake down their No. 02 car in the USRA Modified class at 81 Speedway.

They left the 3/8-mile oval in Park City, Kansas, with their fourth feature win of the season.

When the night kicked off, 17 Modifieds were in the pit area to participate in the track’s First Responders Night. Mullens won his heat race from the pole and rolled off second in the 20-lap main event.

He took the lead on the A-Main’s 12th circuit and was out front for all but one of the remaining laps. He took the checkered flag with a 1.127-second margin of victory over Tyler Davis, with Paden Phillips, Wyatt Gaggero and Brendon Gemill completing the top five.
