Tanner Mullens finishes second in Wild West Shootout championship

The Rio Grande Waste Services Wild West Shootout continued for Tanner Mullens on Wednesday afternoon at Vado Speedway Park (Vado, N.M.) for the third round of the six-race miniseries.

Following a fourth-place showing in his heat race, Mullens charged through the field seven spots in the 30-lap feature to place third. He chased Dereck Ramirez and Tyler Wolff to the checkers.

Back in action on Friday evening after a scheduled off day on Thursday, Mullens came in second in his heat before placing first in his B-Main. Wheeling his way into the top-10 in the feature, Tanner passed 11 cars in the 30-lapper to register a seventh-place finish.

On Saturday, Tanner raced his way into the main event via a consolation victory after placing fifth in his heat race. Reeling in his fifth consecutive top-10 finish to open the 2023 slate, Mullens marched to a 10th-place outing.

Rolling off on the front row of his heat race on Sunday for the Wild West Shootout finale, Mullens secured his spot into the A-Main with a heat race win. Passing six cars in the 40-lap affair, Tanner posted a third-place finish, which came behind Tyler Wolff and Dan Ebert.
